Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. This meme was created because they are particularly fond of lists over at The Broke and the Bookish. I'm sure they'd love to share your lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten list.
Top Ten Characters I Would Name My Children After
1. Lavinia - This is from one of my first real favorite books, Falling Angels. I've been in love with this name, and the character ever since.
2. Harry - Harry Potter. Yeah... I don't have anything else to say about this...
3.Zooey - From Franny and Zooey, but used as a girls name. Zooey is easily my favorite character that Salinger has ever written.
4.Holden - I know, I know Holden Caulfield kind of a bitch, but he's just a teenager. All teenagers are kinda terrible. Really, I just think Holden is an awesome name and I'm a Salinger fangirl. Maybe that makes Holden a more suitable name for a cat than a child?
5.Beatrice - I've always been a bit of a Shakespeare nut, and Beatrice is a pretty awesome character. Plus it's so much better than Goneril.
6. Darcy - OH MR. DARCY. Maybe just for a middle name?
7. Minerva - Ancient Goddess and Hogwarts Professor. Yes.
8. Alma - Alam broke my heart the first time I read The History of Love. She's so innocent and kind and hurt. Such a great character.
9/10. Adeline/Emmeline - I think these are my favorite twin names ever. They're from The Thirteenth Tale, and while I wouldn't want my children to emulate them in any way I can't get over how much I love their names.

Alright, this is the third time I've seen Holden on a list and every time I see it I like it more! Maybe I need to edit my own list :)
Great list. i have a friend named Minerva.
Here is our Top ten Tues
I love Minerva and Adeline & Emmeline. I've never read Franny & Zooey but I've seen a lot of praise for it recently, might have to put it on the list.
Minerva! I feel rather sorry to have forgotten Professor McGonnagal.
I like the last two names. very cute!
I have Holden on my list , seems he has popped up on a few lists :) . I love the name Zooey and If my list was longer it would have starred , I forgot about Darcy- he would have made it also. Im an old follower

lol I love the HP names. I have a few of those on my list as well. Minerva is my cats name though. We call her "Mini Monster"
Great list! I'm going to have to check out The Thirteenth, those are some lovely names from it!
I know. Harry doesn't really need any explanation does it. :) Great list.
love the twin names.
Adeline is a great name that I forgot. (How can I forget The Thirteenth Tale???) I also like Zooey.
I like the name Darcy, but you're right it might be best for a middle name
Fun list--I've known a female Darcy (first name) and thought it pretty; Harry is a great name, timeless; I think Holden might be risky.
My daughter jokingly (I hope) about naming a daughter Iphigenia. I opted for the more prosaic Emily, after Emily Bronte.
Emeline is my daughter's middle name! It's a good one. We also share Holden (along with a few other people, I'm noticing) and Alma. You have great taste! :)
I love Lavinia from Falling Angels too, beautiful name. I'm so with you about Goneril too. Seriously, worse name ever.
Beatrice for the win! I can't help saying it mentally in the Italian as in Dante. *sigh* happy list.
I can't believe I forgot Darcy and Zooey! Great list
I just remembered Zooey right before reading your post. Great one.
Here's my list: http://hawthornescarlet.blogspot.com/2011/02/top-ten-tuesday-namesakes.html
Darcy would make a cute name. :)

HAHHAA Agree w/ Darcy! Nice list and thanx for stopping by and commenting! :D
I haven't heard of the Thirteenth Tale, but I also love Adeline - it was Virginia Woolf's real first name. The Husband has put a great big veto on it though, sadly.
