Sure, she did the occasional nitpicking and the supervising, but overall, she let me read what I wanted. I think it was important that she let me be "free" to read whatever I wanted. Of course, when I was a kid, it wasn't like I was on the book sections that needed to be a supervised, so I guess it works out either way. I went through a chick-lit phase too in high school and read some sacchrine Sparks novels and bad Mr. Right stories. I am also happy that I moved on.Melissa (Avid Reader)https://www.blogger.com/profile/02119628715475021774noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3405557491810612722.post-8679880242401642542011-05-31T09:37:30.167-05:002011-05-31T09:37:30.167-05:00My middle school / high school reading was pretty ...My middle school / high school reading was pretty unsupervised. I remember stumbling across the "Flowers in the Attic" series as a middle school student and getting through the first few books before my Mom caught wind and took them away. I did have my chick lit phase when I was a teenager, now I just find chick-lit predictable.

Oh just thought I remember reading Waiting- Ha Jin when at school, that was probably a bit old for me, I borrowed it from the school library too!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3405557491810612722.post-44226695490435954862011-05-31T06:17:26.257-05:002011-05-31T06:17:26.257-05:00I admit to flicking through the mills and boon boo...I admit to flicking through the mills and boon books at a young age looking for the sexy scenes. But otherwise I think that I was a pretty age appropriate reader. I do know that I read THe Hobbit at a much younger age than usual - but I only know what because I have been told so by my parents.Rebecca Chapmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14144719070318640603noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3405557491810612722.post-3159564611925922182011-05-31T06:11:20.252-05:002011-05-31T06:11:20.252-05:00Jon gave me the Clerks/Chasing Amy screenplays whe...Jon gave me the Clerks/Chasing Amy screenplays when I was 14. I didn't understand most of the words in it. I read Dreamcatcher and Hearts in Atlantis when I was 12.kelfirehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09012600594512771144noreply@blogger.com
