One More Thing - B.J. Novak

You Know B.J. Novak. Between the Office, in which he wrote and played the amazing Ryan the temp turned big wig turned bowling ally attendant,  his various film roles (Inglorious Bastards, Saving Mr. Banks) and his twitter he's more than likely found his way onto your radar. One More Thing is his first foray into prose and let me tell you he does not disappoint!

There's one word for Novak's first story collection and it's addictive. Maybe it's all his work with sitcoms, but One More Thing benefits from perfectly paced stories. Nothing lingers longer than it needs to. This means there are several stories that are just a page long, but their length does not take away from their quality.

These stories feel very rooted in the present. Pop culture references from Miley Cyrus to The Office abound. Any Millennial would feel at home within these short pages.  One More Thing is one of the most interesting short story collections I've read in a long time.

Check out the book trailer for One More Thing, featuring of course B.J.  and his good friend Mindy Kaling.

April in Review

Remember me?
I'm going to take your silence as a yes. I'm also going to take your silence as a sign that you do not hate me for letting HHBPBO fall to pieces. We all have our faults. In truth I should have seen this coming. I'm still working my way through Harry Potter but I'm not quite sure how to make up all the time and posts I had scheduled, but I promise I'll figure something out. In the meantime my regular reviews and musings will resume.

April was a long month. Michigan had it's last snowfall of the spring and life started to get back to normal. I sold my car and inherited my grandma's near new Fusion. I had my first failed experience with my TBR Jar. I went to Toronto. Actually let's talk about Toronto. It was awesome.I got new records. I got cheap books. I fell in love with the city my Grandmother used to live in. Okay, maybe April was alright.
